How to Make a Facial Mask Out of Baking Soda

Baking soda has been used in the family household for more than 165 years. It's useful for baking, as a deodorizer, as a cleanser and even for skin care. In just a few minutes, you can have an inexpensive, skin-softening exfoliating mask made with a natural ingredient. It's gentle enough to use on your face but versatile enough to work on your whole body.

Instructions

    • 1
Measure 1 tablespoon of warm water into a small bowl.
    • 2
Mix in 3 tablespoons of baking soda and stir well to make a paste.
    • 3
Apply the mixture to your face, rubbing it in a circular motion around your face. Don't rub too hard since the baking soda works as an exfoliate. Rinse your face well with cool water.
    • How to Use Baking Soda for Acne Scars and Skin Disorders

    • Baking soda can be applied to the face to help reduce and eliminate irritated or inflamed skin conditions, such as acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, and rashes. Baking soda can be used on the skin in a few different ways, each benefiting the skin in it's own unique way. Using standard baking soda as a regular part of your natural skin care regime will help reveal fresh, clear skin and a more even, balanced complexion.

    • Instructions

        • 1
Cleanse the skin using baking soda. Baking soda can be made into a natural cleanser by combining it with enough water to make a soft paste. The consistency should resemble toothpaste. When the face is wet, the baking soda paste can be gently rubbed onto the skin using small, circular motions. After around 1 minute, rinse the skin well with water. Using a baking soda cleanser will help unclog pores, buff off dead skin cells, and kill acne-causing bacteria on the skin. This can be helpful for treating acne and rosacea.

Tone the skin with baking soda. You can create a baking soda toner by pouring 1 teaspoon of baking soda into an empty, clean spray bottle, then filling the bottle with water. Shake the bottle gently to combine the ingredients thoroughly. After the skin has been washed and cleansed, spray the baking soda toner onto the skin. Allow the toner to dry completely. A baking soda toner is helpful for relieving the itchiness and redness associated with psoriasis and eczema.

Apply a baking soda mask. It is easy to use a baking soda mask to help treat rashes and itchiness on the skin, simply create a baking soda paste and apply it to the effected area using your fingertips. Let the mask sit on the skin for 2-3 minutes, then rinse it off with water. You can use a baking soda mask once per week.

        • How to Clear Acne With Baking Soda

        • Acne can be difficult to manage, and if your acne is caused by candida bacteria it can be resistant to traditional treatments. Luckily, there are ways to combat acne that can actually clear the skin and keep it that way, naturally.

        • Instructions

            • 1
Wash your face gently with a natural soap. Try to find a good quality natural soap from a health food store that is free of preservatives or perfumes. Wash gently, never scrubbing, and rinse.
            • 2
Make a paste with baking soda and water, about the consistency of watery toothpaste, and very gently massage the baking soda mixture on your face. After around 10 seconds stop massaging and let the baking soda rest on your face for another 10 seconds. Rinse thoroughly with water.
            • 3
Pat your face dry with a towel, remembering not to scrub the towel on the face. Gently pat your face dry. Then, dab a little bit of calamine lotion on each acne blemish with a cotton swab. Let dry.
            • 4
Leave the calamine lotion on overnight. In the morning wash your face, massage with the baking soda paste, and pat dry. You should start to see real, lasting results in one to two weeks.
